7 Space Themed Short Breaks

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLORIDA USA
The world's largest and busiest launch facility, Kennedy is the place to touch a moon rock, get close to the coastal launch pads and, if you're lucky, watch a satellite take off, which still happens. Don't miss the bus tour to the Apollo/Saturn V Center, home to the largest rocket built (a 363ft-long moon rocket), the moving Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit and the Shuttle Launch Experience.

Go Coasteering in Cornwall

The sunny coast of Cornwall is now for a number of things.  Long stretches of impressive beaches, waves that are big enough to surf and the hen-night heaven that is Newquay town centre.  What most people overlook, however, is the wealth of naturally beautiful landscapes and alternative activities on offer for a relatively low cost.

hampton

HAMPTON COURT PALACE, SURREY
This is a perfect day out.  While majestic Tudor palace is the main attraction, wandering around its gardens and getting lost in the maze are perfect additions to a visit on a fine day. And the interpretation is what all heritage attractions should ain for. Costumed guided tours, audio guides, videos and displays are excellent at explaining and capturing the feel of royal history and are all included in the entry price.  Children are well catered for, with family trails and hands-on displays.  And while there are cobbles and steps aplenty, much of the sites is wheelchair accessible.  The palace can be reached by all forms of transport and there are some parking on site.  The main restaurant on site that serves a good selection of food, albeit a bit pricey.

Run The Hills of The Kielder Marathon, Northumberland

Kielder-Water

Many of us might know Kielder Water and Forest as having northern Europe’s largest man-made lake and England’s largest forest or for activities such as its beautiful lake, star gazing, mountain biking walking and much more. Since October 2010 the Kielder Water & Forest Park has become the location of the Kielder Marathon, a brainchild of former 1,500m world champion Steve Cram, who hopes the undulating, off-road course around Kielder Water will eventually become known as the most beautiful marathon in Britain.

Short Break to 10 of Earth’s Geological Wonders

Ilulissat Kangerlua Glacier

JAKOBSHAVN ‘ICEBERG FACTORY’, ILULISSAT, GREENLAND
This is one of the main outlets of the Greenland ice sheet. Here you can see enormous chunks of ice break off the main glacier and become icebergs.  Apparently, it’s where the one that sank the Titanic is thought to have originated.  Some of the Icebergs are half a kilometre in size and to see them up close is awe-inspiring as it is bizarre.  You can sit in a nearby hotel quietly having breakfast and watch these immense slabs of ice float past. UK Glamping (glamorous camping) Locations

ekopod

The Great British Summer pulls us out of our homes out into the outdoors but the ideas of sleeping on the ground inside a zipped up bag is not really something most of us really enjoy.  Glamping on the other hand gives us the pleasure of living under the convas enjoying lush countryside, beautiful views and a real sense of escape.  The difference, Glamping offers a bit more luxury that makes camping a bit more enjoyable from a living standpoint.  Below are list of locations where you can enjoy the Great British outdoor in style.

Worldwide Caving Adventures

When I read of places like the Sotano de las Golondrinas (Cave of Swallows) a huge 1200ft pit in Mexico that could swallow the Empire State Building, and the Oman monster, known as Majlis al Jinn (Meeting Room of the Spirits), the second largest cave chamber in the world.  It only leave me with a certain amount of respect and admiration for caves most for all for those that make it fun to explore as a hobby.  We have collated a list of caves for your next adventure in some of the world’s most striking geographical locations.
