Try Canada For A Short Break

Cosmopolitan Toronto, with its iconic CN Tower, the tallest free-standing structure in North America, world-class gastronomy and lively, yet easy-going vibe, is a great starting point to discover the natural wonders of Canada.  From here, you can explore the thundering cascades of Niagara Falls – which have to be on everyone’s list of must-sees on a trip to this vast land of lakes, mountains, forests and rivers.

Toronto is also the perfect place to tour the stunning scenery on the eastern side of Canada. Take a trip to the Blue Mountain resort, with its thrilling mountain rollercoaster, zip-lining at the Scenic Caves and Apex Bag Jump – which basically involves jumping into a giant bag. If you crave a bit of pampering, relax in the Scandinave Spa, a collection of hot pools, steam rooms and a sauna in the heart of the forest. Or you can sail along St Lawrence River on a Thousand Island cruise, past opulent castles and fantastic follies.

You can also get closer to some of Canada’s other natural wonders: spotting moose, beavers and birds as you paddle the still waters of the Algonquin Provincial Park, staying in a secluded lakeside lodge. Then head off to explore the beautiful Lake Rosseau, staying in a luxury hotel with pools and a spa, where you can kayak and windsurfing through the forest.

With so many amazing things to see and do, it can be hard to know where to start.  A good many saver is to get a City Pass, which includes admission to the CN Tower, the Royal Ontario Museum, Ripley’s Aquarium, Casa Loma, the gothic landmark in midtown, and either the Toronto Zoo or the Science Centre.

Vancouver, the oceanfront, mountain-backed city frequently voted the most liveable in the world, is the starting point for another these: West Coast Wonders.  From here, you can head to Whistler, king of the ski resorts with its cosy pubs and lively bars, on to picturesque Kamloops for more outdoor action, with rock climbing, mountain biking and horse-riding, and stop off for a few days at the majestic Lake Louise in the heart of Banff National Park.
